Accounting for Non-Accountants -- A Guide to Utility Accounting
This one-day class is designed principally for Managers, Supervisors and employees of all levels. The focus of the class will concern a review of common types of issues that are accounting related that non-accountants encounter in their daily work. The class will include a discussion of basic utility accounting, procedures known as internal controls, budgeting and financial statements. Participants will be exposed to the use of various utility accounting terms as well as how this impacts their work, compensation, and the well-being of the Cooperative. Participants in this program will gain useful insight into:

-- How to improve their participation in budgeting
-- What accounting needs and why they need certain information
-- Understanding the impacts of fraud, waste, and abuse
