On The Line Training
Objective: To recognize hazards, plan and apply techniques to remove trees from power lines
following storms. Techniques to utilize ground tools and chainsaw operations to mitigate line
hangups.
Participants: Max 12 per instructor
Workshop Time Requirement: Approximately 10-12 hours. (According to site - 1.5 day)
Day One - 1300 to 1700
Day two - 0830 to 1600
Prerequisite: Must have attended and completed the Three Day Storm Sawing Workshop to
participate in OTLT.

Trees will be felled and or placed on an existing power line section. Plans made and work
commences (hands on) to remove the line debris utilizing various techniques.
Hands on sharpening and saw maintenance (RDT) in the field until competent.
Required Equipment:
PPE- Head, eye, ear, gloves, chaps, boots.
Chainsaw - Ready to Run
Fuel and Bar Oil
2 Saw Chains (to fit your chainsaw)
Sharpening Tools. Saw File, Flat File with Handle or Guide (to match your saw chain)
